# Troubleshooting video consultations on Safari

If you're having issues with video consultations on Safari, this article will take you through some things to check.

### Setting camera and microphone permissions

The video consultation platform needs access to your camera and microphone so your patient can see and hear you (and vice versa!). When using Safari for a video session, you'll need to allow access to both of these to allow the connection to be made.

To check your camera and microphone permissions on a laptop or desktop PC, click on **Safari** -\> **Preferences** (or **Settings** depending on what version you are running) -\> **Websites**. From here, you can check both the Camera and Microphone settings.

For both, make sure that the 'When visiting other websites' option at the bottom of the settings panel is set to **Ask** or **Allow**. If you see any writeupp.com websites listed in the the panel, make sure they are also set to **Allow** or **Ask** as standard. We'd recommend Allow, as this means you won't have to set the access permissions each time you begin a video call.

If these are set to Deny, the video platform won't be able to connect to your camera and microphone and you won't be able to access the session.

On an iPhone or iPad, go to **Settings** -\> **Safari**, and for both Camera and Microphone, make sure that the access for all websites is set to either **Allow** or **Ask**. Again if this is set to Deny, you won't be able to access the video session.
