Microsoft 365 Email and Calendar Integration in WriteUpp - Site Administrators
WriteUpp integrates with Micrsoft 365 to help you manage your diary and communications more efficiently. Depending on your user role and setup, you can choose to connect your Microsoft 365 calendar, your email, or both.
For Site Administrators, this includes flexible options such as:
- Syncing appointments from WriteUpp to a Microsoft 365 calendar.
Note: Existing appointments will not be added to your calendar when you connect. Only appointments created in WriteUpp after the connection is made will sync to Microsoft 365. - Sending all emails from WriteUpp (by all users on the site) via a Microsoft 365 email address.
You can connect the same Microsoft 365 account for both email and calendar, or use different accounts for each. For example, you might connect a practice-wide mailbox for sending emails, while linking your own Microsoft 365 calendar to keep your personal appointments in sync.
The sections below explain each connection option in detail, so you can choose the setup that best fits how your practice works.
Connecting your Microsoft 365 Calendar
If you’d like to connect your Microsoft 365 calendar to WriteUpp, so that appointments created in WriteUpp sync to your Microsoft 365 diary, follow the steps below.
1. Go to Main Menu → Integrations & Add-Ons → Microsoft 365
2. Click the green Configure button:

4. Log in using your Microsoft 365 account details and accept the permissions
Once complete, your Microsoft 365 calendar will be linked to your WriteUpp diary, and any new appointments you create in WriteUpp will sync automatically.
Note: This is a one-way sync. Appointments created in WriteUpp will sync to Microsoft 365, but appointments created in Outlook will not sync back to WriteUpp.
Connecting your Microsoft 365 Email
If you’d like to connect your Microsoft 365 email to WriteUpp, so that all emails sent to clients from within WriteUpp use your Outlook email address, follow the steps below.
1. Go to Main Menu → Integrations & Add-Ons → Microsoft365
2. Click the green Configure button:
3. In the Email section, click Sign in with Microsoft 365:
4. Log in using your Microsoft 365 account details and accept the requested permissions
5. You'll be directed back to WriteUpp, and the mailbox dropdown at the top of the page will have updated from WriteUpp to Microsoft 365.
Once complete, all emails sent from WriteUpp (by all users on the site) will be sent from your Microsoft 365 email address and delivered via the Microsoft 365 server.
You can use the Send Test Email button at the bottom of the Microsoft 365 integration screen to check that the integration has been set up correctly. This will send a test email to your Microsoft 365 inbox so you can confirm it’s working as expected.
This integration gives you the option to link the same Microsoft 365 account for both calendar and email, or different ones if needed. If you’d like to use the same account for both, simply connect the same Microsoft 365 account in the calendar section and the email section.
