# Using AI Scribe in Assessments

If you have access to **AI Scribe**, either through the [4 hour free trial](https://knowledge.writeupp.com/en/assigning-the-ai-scribe-free-trial?hsLang=en) or a [paid licence](https://knowledge.writeupp.com/en/adding-ai-scribe-licences-to-your-subscription?hsLang=en), you can use it to help complete assessments in real time while you’re with a client.

AI Scribe listens to your session and automatically fills in assessment responses based on the conversation, helping to reduce admin time and keep your focus on the client.

Alternatively, if you prefer to complete an assessment after the session (for example, when filling in a form for the clinician to complete), you can speak the questions aloud and then dictate the answers you would like recorded. AI Scribe will capture this information and populate the relevant fields accordingly.

You’ll need to allow access to your device’s microphone to record sessions using AI Scribe.

### **How to use AI Scribe in an assessment**

1. Go to **Create → Assessment**
2. Select the assessment you’d like to complete
3. Click **Open Scribe** at the bottom of the screen

4. Press the **Record** button to begin recording

Once recording has started, you can begin your session or complete the assessment. AI Scribe captures all voices in the conversation.

If you are with a client, any questions you ask and their responses will be recorded and used to automatically populate the relevant fields once recording is complete. You can also use AI Scribe outside of a live session by speaking the questions and dictating the answers yourself when completing the assessment.

Top tip: You can minimise the AI Scribe modal at any time during recording, so you can easily view and work through your assessment questions.

#### **After the session**

1. Click **Stop** to end the recording
2. A modal will appear asking you to please wait while AI Scribe interprets the recording  
   **WARNING:** Do **not** navigate away from the assessment screen until the audio has been uploaded and fully transcribed. If you leave the screen before AI Scribe has finished transcribing and generating the content, it will be lost and may not be recoverable.
3. When finished, it will automatically populate the assessment form for you.

**Note:** It may take a few minutes after pressing stop for AI Scribe to interpret the recording and generate your answers. Please wait for it to complete before closing the modal or navigating away from the screen.

### **Important**

- Always review the completed assessment to ensure all answers are accurate and reflect what the client said.
- AI Scribe supports up to **200 questions per recording**, so any additional questions beyond this limit will not be processed.
